About
Hi, I’m Natalie.
For me, painting is a way to experience the world. I take inspiration from what I see around me, whether it’s in the city where I’ve made my home, in nature, or when travelling. My paintings are colourful, poetic and rhythmic to engage the viewer in the emotive experience of painting.
Bio
I am originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin (USA) but, after studying/volunteering/working/living in France/Benin/Alaska/Quebec, respectively, I settled in Saint John, New Brunswick (Canada) with my husband in 2015. From a young age, I have felt compelled to create art in all its forms out of enjoyment of the creation process. I find that the act of painting, in particular, is a self-transcendent experience that lifts me above the hustle and bustle of daily life and gives me a sense that I am connected to something bigger.
While I have pursued art classes throughout my life, I consider myself to be largely self-taught and continually strive to improve my technique through practice and workshops.
